Design fire simulation in railway vehicles using AI-based data

The goal of the BESKID project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), is to develop and experimentally validate AI-based methods for calculating design fires. The project started in 2022.

Motivation

The overall goal of the BESKID project is to develop two AI systems that allow for fire propagation simulations in railway vehicles based on less experimental data.

Experiments

The BESKID project aims to take a multi-scale approach. To do so, experiments will be conducted from the micro-scale to the real-scale.

Modeling

The project will explore two AI-based modeling approaches: KIM for material parameter determination and KIB for fast calculation of fire variations.
